Ivy Tech to be exclusive provider of manufacturing skills certification
 

INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 20, 2007) - Ivy Tech Community College, in partnership with the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC), now offers MSSC assessment and certification programs. Ivy Tech is the exclusive provider of MSSC assessment centers, courses and teachers at the collegiate level in the state of Indiana.

Ivy Tech is uniquely positioned to be the state’s provider of these MSSC certification programs. The college’s system of 23 campuses and relationships with career service centers throughout the state, make the program accessible throughout Indiana. The College also brings an expertise in providing workforce certifications to the partnership, offering more than 2,000 training and certification programs.

MSSC is a nationwide, industry-based skill standards, training, assessment and certification system for all sectors of manufacturing. Assessment and certification focus on four key areas: safety, production and process, quality, and maintenance awareness. Completion of training in all four areas results in an industry and nationally recognized “MSSC Production Technician Certification” for the employee. For employers it results in a well-rounded workforce with the core skills necessary to keep up with rapid technological change.

Offered through Ivy Tech, MSSC training, assessment and certification programs will be available to students, workers, career changers, and others seeking high-skills/high-wage production jobs in manufacturing.  Both Ivy Tech and MSSC believe that implementing these programs will benefit individuals, companies, communities and economic development.
